Audio Systems consist of speakers, amplifying equipment and an audio source built around several basic components and constructed to deliver a public or private service. For instance; designed to give low-level background music to a shopping centre where multiple speakers provide ambient noise so as not to overwhelm listeners. In order for the same system to be used to effectively communicate public address announcements, the audible level would need to be significantly higher than the background music.

Induction Loop audio systems are required by Regulations which came into force from October 2004. Public and some private places provide induction loop audio to assist the hard of hearing.
