Nurse Call is used in hospitals, private nursing homes and increasingly in domestic situations. With the onset of ‘care in the community’, nurse call is a vital part of the communications chain between the patient, nurse and/or carer. Ease of use of these systems is essential as the caller may be elderly or be a person with disabilities. Call devices come in different types but normally are either a ‘push button’ on a pendant or wall plate, or are a ‘pull cord’ hung from a ceiling in a bathroom, bedroom, kitchen or other room.

  • Wire Type systems are the most popular and cost effective for nursing homes and elderly care homes. These are cabled from the call point to fixed nursing stations, corridor intersections or concierge flats where staff can easily see, hear and respond to activated alarms.
  • Radio Transmission systems utilise a local pager system coupled with bed head transmitters that are in fixed positions around buildings. Staff carry a discrete radio pager that is programmed to respond to a call from the base station and automatically pass messages from the bed head unit of the caller. This gives the staff flexibility, as they do not have to return to the nursing station before responding to the call.
  • Telephone Systems are available that can be easily installed within patients’ homes. In the event of a problem they allow help to be summoned quickly using the standard telephone network that connects direct to a central medical station, to a relative, or to a carer’s telephone.

Abbeyvale Systems provides a caring service to customers which is confidential and sympathetic to their requirements.
